overview

Ren Ci can be literally translated as "humanitarian compassion", and this is what we stand for.

Established as a charity in 1994, Ren Ci Hospital provides medical, nursing, allied health, psychosocial support and counselling to patients, regardless of race, religion or background. ISO certified since 2002, Ren Ci is one of the few charities in Singapore that provides high quality and affordable Intermediate Long Term Care (ILTC) services for the community based on the principles of loving kindness and compassion.

With effect from April 2011, Ren Ci is registered as a Company Limited by Guarantee (CLG). With its more stringent accounting and financial reporting requirements, the CLG status allows the hospital to demonstrate a higher level of accountability to its stakeholders, which is in line with Ren Ci's commitment to strengthen its corporate governance, business functions and operations. Meanwhile, Ren Ci continues to operate as a charity and voluntary welfare organisation and enjoys an institution of public character (IPC) status granted by the Charities Commission.

Most of our patients suffer from multiple illnesses and medical conditions, and are from low income families. Many of them are bedridden or wheelchair-bound. On average, it takes about $114 a day to maintain a chronic sick patient and $73 a day for a nursing home resident.

Today, Ren Ci’s spectrum of care encompasses Ren Ci Community Hospital, Ren Ci Long-Term Care (chronic sick), and Ren Ci Nursing Home. With the various facilities and services, Ren Ci’s budgeted operating cost for this financial year is expected to amount to some $30 million. After taking into account subvention from the Ministry of Health and collection from patient charges, Ren Ci still needs to raise another $6 million this year in order to meet the high medical and nursing expenses of our patients. Therefore, as a charity organisation, Ren Ci relies heavily on garnering public support and donations. This is also why we have been actively organising various fundraising events.

During each and every fundraising event, our stakeholders - be it the medical and nursing team, administration staff, social workers, volunteers, patients’ family members, or even our benefactors - will unfailingly contribute their concerted efforts to raise the much needed funds for our patients, all working towards a common goal: to bring a ray of hope to our less fortunate patients with resources to provide better medical and nursing care.

Ren Ci has a strong team of dedicated, well-trained and experienced doctors, nurses, therapists and volunteers to provide our patients with:
Holistic, integrated medical, nursing and rehabilitative services
Emotional, psychological and spiritual support and
Assistance for their activities of daily living
