July 29, 2010
Singapore, 1 August 2010 – The annual “FUN-raising” carnival, Ren Ci Vegetarian Food Fiesta 2010, will be held at Ren Ci Community Hospital (71 Irrawaddy Road) on Sunday, 1 August 2010 from 8.30am to 5.00pm. The event will be graced by Guest-of-Honour Mr Lui Tuck Yew, Acting Minister for Information, Communications & the Arts and Member of Parliament for Tanjong Pagar GRC (Moulmein).
Themed “Food • Family • Fun”, this one-day iconic fundraising carnival aims not only to raise a target of $250,000 through coupon sales, but also to emphasise the importance of family bonding through the festive elements of food and fun.
"Food has always been celebrated across various cultures as a central subject that draws people together, in particular family members. And it is this interaction through food that we at Ren Ci hopes to foster among our patients, volunteers and employees." said Mr Chua Thian Poh, Chairman of Ren Ci Hospital & Medicare Centre.
Into its 8th year, the Ren Ci Vegetarian Food Fiesta 2010 is witnessing an encouraging boost in philanthropy, as more volunteers and supporters from all walks of life come together to contribute time, effort and money to the carnival for a meaningful cause.
The number of new corporate participants also hit an all-time high this year, with organisations such as Crystal Jade Culinary Concepts Ltd, Greentea Packaging Pte Ltd, Happy Realm Vegetarian Food Centre, Ho Bee Group, Lee Kum Kee, Teckwah Industrial Corporation Ltd and Unicurd Food Company Pte Ltd, pledging their involvement for the very first time.
Besides featuring over 60 stalls dishing out a wide gastronomic selection of savory vegetarian cuisines, the event also promises a list of exciting activities. Highlights include a tofu-eating competition, a creative cookie-decorating workshop, a free Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultation booth, plus plenty of games and activities for children.
The public can purchase the coupons in advance at $10 each or $50 per booklet by calling Ren Ci at 6355 6477. All funds raised will be used towards patient care.
