Citi-YMCA Youth for Causes 2011

May 31, 2011

From 30 May 2011 till the end of September, a group of enterprising students from Nanyang Girls’ High School will launch a special project in aid of Ren Ci, under the Citi-YMCA Youth for Cause 2011 initiative. The group, who named themselves ECHO, will be involving some 200 students to carry out a series of street sales, selling various items such as badges, cookies, apples and oranges in school, as well as around the vicinity of Plaza Singapura at Dhoby Ghaut.

Besides raising funds for Ren Ci’s needy patients through the sale of these items, the students have also planned a flash mob along the streets of Orchard Road to increase awareness among young Singaporeans on the charity organisation’s cause.

Citi-YMCA Youth for cause (YFC) is a joint community initiative by Citi Foundation and the YMCA of Singapore to cultivate a culture of social responsibility and build community leadership. It acts as a catalyst in promoting responsible social entrepreneurship among youth in Singapore.
