Healthcare workers in S’pore share how they protect the elderly during Covid-19

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, more precautionary measures have been implemented at centres that provide Community Care all over Singapore. This includes the scaling back of volunteer activities as well as guidelines on face-to-face visitations, which include a cap on the number of visitors nursing home clients are permitted in a day. Therapy robots at Ren Ci Community Hospital keep seniors active

Coronavirus: Nursing Homes get care staff to stay on site
April 9, 2020

Mr Joe Hau, chief executive of Ren Ci Hospital, which runs the Ren Ci nursing home in Ang Mo Kio, said: "It is normal for nursing home residents to feel anxious as the number of confirmed cases continues to climb daily, though our staff's regular updates of the Covid-19 situation does help to reduce their anxiety." Ren Ci's third nursing home to be at Woodlands Health Campus

A third nursing home will be operated by Ren Ci within Woodlands Health Campus in 2022. This means an additional 336 beds will be made available for seniors to help them age in place.

Mdm Sim has brought numerous improvements to better care delivery including partnering tech company to develop a wound care management application. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong officiated the opening of Ren Ci @ Ang Mo Kio on Saturday. The Straits Times reported on the unique features of the home like the Short Stay Unit and a dome shaped showering chamber. The opening also witnessed the MOU exchange of Ren Ci Learning Academy with Tan Tock Seng Hospital. 

Shower machine cuts bath time for wheelchair users

We embarked on a trial to use the VIAMI automated showering system to provide comfort and privacy for our patients that reduces bathing time. The saved time enables care staff to care for the other needs of the patients. The Straits Times and Lianhe Zaobao carried reports.
