Ren Ci Hospital started its operations in long term care at Buangkok Green in 1994. Two types of patients were being cared for at the facility; nursing home residents and chronic sick patients. In 2014, residents were relocated to Ren Ci nursing home in Moulmein whilst patients at the chronic sick unit were moved to Ren Ci Community Hospital at Irrawaddy road.
The Chronic Sick patients are mostly bedridden, with severe physical disabilities. They come from a low socioeconomic background and require higher levels of nursing care.
Admission to Ren Ci Community Hospital for Chronic Sick (CS) services is strictly by referral through the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC), a centralised government agency that monitors the availability of beds across all ILTC (Intermediate and Long Term Care) facilities in Singapore. The AIC helps families look for suitable care options in Singapore. To apply for admission, you will need to consult a social worker at the hospital or polyclinic, and they would assist you in submitting an application to AIC. Please note that a copy of the total household income (where the applicant is registered under) and identification are required for the application.

Patients admitted for CS services will be eligible to use Medisave for their treatment under the prevailing withdrawal limits for approved CS patients ($50 per day, up to $3,000 per year). They can also apply for Medifund assistance if unable to afford their remaining bills after receiving Government subsidies and drawing on other means of payment.
