Dr Kala Kanagasabai

Dr Kala is a senior clinician with nearly 30 years in community geriatrics and rehabilitation, overseeing patient management in Ren Ci’s Community Hospital and Nursing Homes. She leads key areas like Patient Safety, Quality Improvement, Quality Assurance, Infection Prevention, and Pandemic Management. A pioneer in establishing Ren Ci’s improvement framework, Dr Kala also serves as the lead trainer for the Clinical Quality Faculty.

Her expertise spans undergraduate and postgraduate medical education as well as specialized training for the community care sector. Dr Kala develops and delivers training programs in Quality Improvement, Infection Prevention, Pandemic Management, and Patient Safety, ensuring high standards of care. She also serves as a panel member for the College of Family Physicians’ CME advisors and is fully registered with the Singapore Medical Council. Her contributions have strengthened quality care and training standards in the community care sector.

Senior Nurse Educator

Ms Eng Chor Lin

Chor Lin is a skilled healthcare professional with two decades of experience in nursing and education. ACTA- and DACE-certified, she began her nursing career in 2004 and is now a Senior Nurse Educator at Ren Ci Hospital. In this role, she coaches nursing students, trains new staff, and addresses the training needs of external healthcare partners.

Chor Lin conducts a range of skills-based training, including Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) for staff and partners. As a certified trainer and assessor, she is an ITE Skill Certificate instructor in both Health Care for In-patient and Home Care. She is also a BCLS + AED Chief Instructor, dedicated to elevating care standards and supporting professional growth within community healthcare. Chor Lin’s expertise and commitment are essential in nurturing competent, compassionate care providers in the community care sector.

Senior Physiotherapist

Ms Chng Hui Xian

Hui Xian is a Senior Physiotherapist with 9 years of experience, specialising in geriatrics and rehabilitation. ACLP-trained, she has extensive experience in training Therapy Aides and Physiotherapists, having served as the Head of Therapist Aides from 2019 to 2022. Currently, she is the Education Lead for Allied Health Professionals at Ren Ci Hospital, where she identifies learning needs and plans training for the rehabilitation department.

Hui Xian primarily serves older adults with geriatrics-related conditions, such as dementia, stroke, post-orthopaedic recovery, Parkinson’s disease, and musculoskeletal conditions. She has clinical experience in community hospitals, chronic sick units, and Centre-based services. Hui Xian conducts AHPC mentoring for physiotherapists and facilitates training for support care staff and other healthcare professionals. She has developed competency checklists for newly joined Therapy Aides and trained therapists in transdisciplinary assessments, further enhancing collaborative care within the organisation. Her work is vital in advancing rehabilitation and upskilling within the community care sector.

Senior Occupational Therapist
Adjunct Lecturer, Temasek Polytechnic

Ms Christine Goh

Christine is a Senior Occupational Therapist with 17 years of experience working in both acute and community care settings. Currently serving as an Adult Educator at Ren Ci Hospital, Christine focuses on addressing the training needs of the community care sector. Over the years, she has mentored many therapists, students, and support care personnel, playing a pivotal role in developing and implementing training programs. These initiatives cover a wide range of topics, including workplace learning, group therapy facilitation, and wound care. Additionally, Christine has contributed to the Community Care Associate programme, training support care staff who assist elderly individuals in community care settings. She holds a Master of Science in Safety, Health, and Environment Technology from the National University of Singapore, a Bachelor of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Sydney, and a Diploma in Occupational Therapy from Nanyang Polytechnic. As a certified occupational therapist with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), Christine continues to make significant contributions to the field through her work in education and training.

Ms Dorita Ho

Dorita has been an Occupational Therapist in community care for 11 years with experience across various settings such as community hospital and day rehabilitation centre. She works mostly with older adults who have physical, cognitive, and psychosocial needs, including conditions such as stroke, advanced heart and lung disease, dementia and recovery after orthopaedic surgery.

Dorita supported development and delivery of training for Community Care Associates and Senior Community Care Associates when Ren Ci were early adopters of the job redesign. She also developed and delivered various short courses aimed at upskilling community care professionals in occupational therapy related areas. Dorita taught at Temasek Polytechnic, is currently teaching in the Singapore Institute of Technology and mentors AHPC professionals.

Manager, Quality Service Management

Ms Karen Koh

Karen is a Manager in Quality Service Management with extensive experience in fostering service excellence and driving customer satisfaction across diverse sectors, including healthcare, facilities management, and banking. She is particularly skilled in implementing service excellence and innovation cultures, motivating teams through targeted training programs, and conducting service quality audits to provide actionable feedback for continuous improvement. Karen’s ability to cultivate collaborative relationships with stakeholders further supports her commitment to enhancing patient experiences and driving organisational success. Clinical Instructor

Ms Samantha Lee

Samantha is an experienced Clinical Instructor with nine years in nursing and healthcare training. ACLP-trained, she has a strong background in instructing healthcare professionals, including nurses, Community Care Associates (CCA), Senior Community Care Associates (SCCA), and nursing students. As part of the job redesign early adopter phase, Samantha provided training for the CCA and SCCA roles and delivered the WSQ Higher and Advanced Certificate in Healthcare programs.

Her clinical expertise spans acute care, community hospitals, and nursing homes, with experience in Neuroscience and Neurology Critical Care, Gerontology, and Post-Anesthesia Care. Samantha has also led nursing research as a Principal Investigator. She co-developed the curriculum for the Care Associate program and played a key role in redesigning the scope for Therapy Assistants, training them for upskilling and leading transdisciplinary assessment. Samantha’s work reflects her dedication to advancing training quality and supporting professional growth within the community care sector.

Assistant Nurse Clinician

Ms Tracey Lim

Tracey is an experienced Assistant Nurse Clinician with a strong clinical training and education background. She is ACLP-certified and specializes in coaching nursing students while training healthcare staff through facilitated courses, lectures, and simulations to enhance clinical competencies. Tracey has extensive clinical experience across acute, community, and nursing home settings and has taught many healthcare professionals, including nurses, allied healthcare professionals, and nursing students. Her expertise spans multiple disciplines, including critical care and cardiac care. Tracey also serves as the Program Director for Life Support training at Ren Ci Hospital, where she creates and implements educational programs for nurses. She oversees training to ensure a consistent standard of teaching for courses such as BCLS/CPR+AED Provider and Instructor courses. Tracey holds an Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (2024) and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Nursing Studies from Teesside University (2011). She is registered with the Singapore Nursing Board.

Ms Marilyn Pearl D/O David

Marilyn is an Assistant Nurse Clinician with 16 years of professional experience spanning intensive care, community health nursing, and institutional training. Her career highlights include roles as an NYP lecturer and a mentor, where she has guided both in-service nurses and nursing students through hands-on training and clinical education. Marilyn has played a pivotal role in developing nursing programs and competencies, equipping nurses with the skills needed to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. She is ACLP trained, having obtained her Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance in 2023, and her strong academic credentials include an Advanced Diploma in Nursing (Community Health) from Nanyang Polytechnic and a BSc (Hons) in Nursing from the University of Sunderland (UK)

Ms Kumutha Muthu

Kumutha is an Assistant Nurse Clinician with extensive experience in the community care setting, specialising in training and education for nursing staff. As a Clinical Instructor at Ren Ci Hospital, she oversees the training needs of the nursing workforce, conducting induction programs, volunteer training, and skills-based courses. Kumutha has co-developed and facilitated various training initiatives, including the Clinical Preceptorship Course, Venepuncture and IV Cannulation Course, and Safe Manual Handling Train-the-Trainer program. Her expertise also extends to upskilling new and existing staff in nursing care. She holds multiple advanced qualifications, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Sydney and a Specialist Diploma in Clinical Education from Nanyang Polytechnic, complementing her strong foundation in both clinical practice and education

Ms Christina Oh

Christina is a seasoned healthcare professional with nearly 30 years in nursing and education. ACTA-certified, she began as a Registered Nurse in acute care (1995-2020) and became a nursing lecturer at Parkway College in 2010. From 2012 to 2014, she served as an Associate Manager at the Workforce Development Agency, auditing WSQ courses.

Since 2020, Christina has been a Clinical Instructor at Ren Ci Hospital, where she develops training for nursing staff, conducts Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and skills-based training, and oversees nursing students during clinical attachments. She co-developed the Care Associate and Senior Care Associate programs with AIC and is the trainer for the WSQ Higher Certificate and Advanced Higher Certificate in Community Care, advancing elder care skills for nursing home staff. Christina’s work underscores her commitment to excellence in community care training and staff development.

Ms Valenie Tay

Valenie is a Principal Occupational Therapists with 10 years of experience in community care, specialising in rehabilitation for older adults with conditions such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, low vision as well as those with palliative care. Her clinical experience spans across acute care, community based health prevention programmes, community hospital and centre-based services.

Valenie has conducted training for RCLA courses, teaches and mentors students at the Singapore Institute of Technology, and mentors AHPC professionals, driving forward quality care and education in the community care sector. Valenie also has some involvement in research supporting SIT honours projects and published a research paper in 2024 titled “Early career occupational therapists’ perception of occupational justice in practice in Singapore”.

Ms Tng Hui Ling

Hui Ling is a Senior Physiotherapist with over 19 years of experience in the intermediate and long-term care sector, specialising in clinical care for older adults with diverse needs, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial challenges. Her expertise spans managing conditions such as strokes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and post-orthopaedic surgeries. In addition to her clinical work, Hui Ling has extensive experience in training therapy assistants and support care staff, contributing significantly to workforce development in the community care sector. She has played a pivotal role in curriculum development for the Community Care Associate programme and has served as a co-lecturer for the Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support (Therapy Support) at HMI Institute. Hui Ling is ACTA certified, having obtained the Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment in 2013, and is registered with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) in Singapore. Her academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Physiotherapy from the Singapore Institute of Technology-Trinity College Dublin and a Diploma in Physiotherapy from Nanyang Polytechnic. Senior Nurse Clinician

Ms Varadhan Arivazhagi

Varadhan Arivazhagi, also known as V. Ariva, is a Senior Nurse Clinician at Ren Ci Hospital with 25 years of nursing experience. She has vast expertise in caring for people living with dementia (PLWD) and was instrumental in initiating the Dementia Care Mapping at Lions Home for the elderly in 2007. Throughout her career, Ariva has been actively involved in developing and enhancing dementia care practices, including the establishment of a Dementia workgroup aimed at improving the quality of life for PLWD. She has also trained new staff and conducted refresher sessions for existing staff on dementia care.

Ariva has contributed significantly to training and development in the community care sector. She developed the curriculum for the Care Associate programme and was involved in redesigning the scope of therapy assistants, training them to be upskilled in dementia care. She also initiated and trained therapists in transdisciplinary assessment.

Ariva holds a Bachelor of Nursing (1999) from The Tamil Nadu MGR Medical University in India and a Master of Science in Dementia Studies from the University of Stirling, Scotland (2012). Additionally, she is certified in Dementia Care by Nanyang Polytechnic (2007) and the University of Bradford (UK), and she is a facilitator of the Spark of Life program (2021) and the Namaste Care and Humanitude program (2024). Ariva is registered with the Singapore Nursing Board.

Ms Ong Li Wen

Ong Li Wen is a Quality Executive in the Clinical Quality Management unit, holding Bachelor of Science in Nursing as well as Bachelor in Business Management studies. Li Wen is a registered nurse specializing in emergency preparedness and response. She actively manages and teaches clinical quality and patient safety at Ren Ci.

Grace is a medical doctor by training and has experience in teaching Obstetrics & Gynecology to medical students. She worked as a Clinical Coder for more than five years and is also trained in Incident Management and Review, Root Cause Analysis, Infection Prevention & Control and Pandemic Preparedness.

Music Therapist

Ms Jolene Yee

Jolene is a Music Therapist with the Psychosocial Service Department at Ren Ci Hospital and holds credentials as a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) and Neurological Music Therapist (NMT). She uses an eclectic approach to support elders in long-term care, palliative and community hospital settings to address goals including relationship completion, grief and loss and self-expression. Jolene has also introduced music therapy services for residents living with terminal illnesses and disorders of consciousness and their families. She adopts a resource-oriented approach, recognising the potential in every person and the importance of journeying alongside others, supporting and holding space with music.
